I humbly submit this 24 th Annual report of the “
BUDDHA OUTCAST SOCIAL SOCIETY ” (BOSS) for your comments and suggestions
and kind approval. ‘BOSS’ is a registered voluntary society (NGO) engaging in
rural development activities in this region from the year 1995. It was
established by a group of likeminded social activists, Feminist, professionals
and a social workers joined hands to work for a cause of noble deeds such as
social welfare, Socio Economic Development of the weaker sections. In the past
24 years ‘BOSS’ served the rural poor people in 100 villages around the
Tiruvannamalai development block for their development in all aspects. I take
this occasion to Thank those have worked with us in the field of community
development and other social activities.

OUR MISSION :
To work with the most deprived and
depressed sections of society i.e. women, children, dalits, persons with
disability, marginal and small farmers, landless laborers in enhancing their
capacities, confidence to ensure socio-economic uplift of the down trodden. It
helps the poor people by enabling them to realize their inherent capacities and
attention on most vulnerable sections of the community to acquire basic needs
and rights, to impart knowledge and to be reliant, secure themselves, to
establish an egalitarian society, by the methods of Training and
implementations of project & programmes.

- Specific emphasis on SC / ST living in vulnerable areas.
- Green Environmental through Tree Planting.
- An all inclusive Agenda on Excluded communities.
PHILOSOPHY :
BOSS realizes the talent
capacity among the people upgrade themselves from their present status. It
stresses for increased and better participation of the people in community
development affairs thereby reestablishing the existing system and believe that
the people are the great resource.

BOSS has completed its 24
th year with successful Endeavour’s and committed itself to help the poor
people to become self-reliant, not as dependent, to use the resources locally
available to achieve a social change in rural sector. This 24 th annual report
furnishes the following activities and programmes have been successfully
achieved in the year 2018-2019.
- 10,000 FRUIT SEEDLINGS - PLANTATION :
BOSS Organized “ To purchase 10,000 fruit tree
seedlings to be planted throughout 10 villages affected by drought and global
warming” .
The above said titled project has
implemented on the concept of safe guarding environment through Tree planting project in ten villages
situated on the northern side of the Mount Arunachala. The Main Aim of this programme is Green
environment through tree planting and to
provide awareness among the rural public
Especially women self help group members about the Tree planting and
safeguarding. Planting seedlings in 10 villages are Coconut , Mango, Amla , Lemon,
Koyya, , Teek, Madhulai, Drumstick
,Patham . Pungan and Batham.
After completion of our programme in the
end of the year 2018, more than 90 percentage species of plantation will
survive for future. Almost all the people of our target villages were known
very well about nature, Global warming,
Climate Change and in value and come forwarded to protect these at least in
future. BOSS staff team and the village women felt the need and it should be
addressed forth with and this project has been implemented with the valuable
support of Purely
Overseas Trust (POST) – United Kingdom . BOSS has made sincere
efforts on implementation of the project are as follows :

- TAMILNADU STATE SOCIAL WELFARE BOARD PROGRAM:
We hereby Submission our Thanks to Tamilnadu Social Welfare Board – chennai regard sanction of Grant in Aid for purchase of office furniture and fittings . We successfully implemented to each and all the conditions stipulated in the sanction letter . We, on Behalf of Hereby guarantee that all movable and Immovable properties buildings, Constructed and other Assets Acquired under and created wholly or substantially. Out of the grant , sanction of which was conveyed vide State Social Welfare Advisory Board’s Letter no. Roc . No . 2643 / 1 - 5 / 2017 . Dated on : 14 / 03 / 2018 . will not without the prior sanction of the Central Social Welfare Board and the Government of India, be disposed mortgaged of utilized at any time for purpose other than that for which the Grant has been sanctioned .
- HEALTH EDUCATION FOR RURAL WOMEN :
BOSS
organized Health Education For Rural Women on 07-07-2018 in Adaiyur Village The Aim of the program is :
To identify, diagnosis and analysis the health hazards affecting women
in weaker sections of the rural areas. To provide education and make aware of
the rural women on HIV / AIDS, reproductive health and mother & child care
respects. To create an healthy community and drive away the spreadness of
contagious diseases and health hazards in rural areas. To eliminate child/early marriage in thiruvannamalai Block within five years of
time. To reduce Infant Mortality Rate and Maternal Mortality Rate to 50% from
the present level. To increase male,
female sex ratio to 1000:980 from the present level 1000:920 within five in the
block. . Project has implemented on
the concept of free treatment to all more than 200 women benefitted through
this Health Education For Rural Women Program.
- CAMPAIGN ON PREVENTION OF SEXUAL ABUSE / VIOLENCE /
EXPLOITATION
AGAINST WOMEN”.
Thanking you for Haella Stichting Foundation for our project has been approved for funding project is“Campaign on Prevention of sexual Abuse/violence/exploitation
against women”. First at all we submit our profound thanks on behalf of BOSS NGO for
their generous Grant support .
This project
was based on a Needs Identification Study that was conducted to ascertain the
existing situation of the beneficiary groups of women, young women and
adolescent girls. The programs are as follows :

legal entities, and rehabilitation services.

Some of the main findings of the study were:
-
The position of women in families is poor. They
are not consulted in the decision-making process in families and in society and
this include decision-making even about their own health.
-
Male children are preferred in families. The girl
child is viewed as a curse. There is preferential treatment for the male
children.
-
There is violation of reproductive and sexual
rights of females of all age groups. There is the presence of premarital and
extramarital sex. Unwed and unintended pregnancies and unsafe abortions are
present in the villages
Changes bring about through the implementation of this project were:
-
Women, young women and adolescent girls in the 10
project villages become knowledgeable on all matters relating to
decision-making in families, need for participation in local administration,
women’s rights, adolescent rights, sexual and reproductive rights and issues
with self-confidence.
Morethan 2000 members
and leaders of self-help groups of women initiated as part of the project take
on the role of change agents for the project villages with respect to autonomy
of women in social and political matters.
- TRIBAL WOMEN EMPOWERMENT THROUGH IGP/ EDP PROGRAM ’’ .

for our project has been approved for
funding project Our BOSS Project Target area of 10 tribal
hamlets are located beneath and summit of Kavuthi Hill which is southern part
of western ghat, geographically western ghat begin at Jawadhu Hills Tamil Nadu
state. 5000 kilometers spreader ranges where 100 more tribal sector are living
in this target area they are known as Irular
. They have been living here for the
Past 07 generations. Target group of widows, frequently faced
harassments of the forest department citing threatened species in Schedule III
of wild life protection act. Their non-timber forest products collected from
forest area are bought at very low rate and sold with high margin. Thus they
are squandered a lot.
All the Tribal widow will be trained in
Maintain the milk cow , Income Generation Training and financial management,
marketing, collective bargaining in the wholesale market, attracting customers,
and management of a small business. Initially 10 Tribal women will receive the initial loans.
Loans will be repaid small amount in 12
months with 1.% interest on a declining basis. First month we distribute the
Loan for 10 Members each ₹ 12,000 (Totally ₹ 1,20,000) The women expect to net ₹ 6,000
to ₹ 8,000 per month ( Expenses ₹ 1,000 and Repay per Month ₹ 1,000)
women expect to net income ₹ 14,000After completion of the one
month The 10 Beneficiaries repay the loan amount ₹ 10,000 per
month. The others will receive loans from the repaid funds. Every month, 1-2
new women will receive loans ( seed money ) one or two beneficiaries to
purchase new cow. Totally 10 New Beneficiaries and 20 other Beneficiaries will involve the Income Generating Activities
and benefit through one year .The total Beneficiaries are 30 ( 10 + 20).
There is sustainability in this project.
After completion of the two days Income generation and Entrepreneurship
Training the Beneficiaries will start their business to able to earn their own
money through sales. The Future influence of this project is that Tribal women
can tackle the evil men and acquire boldness to defend them. Economically they
have started self employment. Then they will escape from the Hutches of
Landlords and moneylenders.
- NATIONAL FEMALE CHILD SAFETY PROGRAM ’ .
BOSS NGO organized National Female Child Safety Program on 24
th January 2018 at Adaiyur village .
Children in hazardous work – End child abuse. The ILO’s most recent global
estimate is that 215 million children particularly female children are involved
in hazardous work worldwide. 12.6 million of whom are in India.. This year, the
focus for World Day against Child Labor is on child labor and supply chains.
With 168 million children still in child labor, all supply chains, from
agriculture to manufacturing, services to construction, run the risk that child
labor may be present. More than 450 Students were participants in this Program.
The Aim of this program :
Ø To reduce the female child abuse
ratio in rural areas.
Ø Children to be provided with
integrated development which would benefit their bodies, minds and self
actualization.
Ø We work closely with
beneficiaries. We have to make our works with this beneficiaries for their betterment.
Ø To Promote children development
and it is the primary responsibility according by their appearances.
Ø leading to enhanced capacity for
parents and care gives to support development of children
Ø To improve community development
mutually understanding the importance of Girl child education.
Ø The permanent source of income in
obtained through skill training
Ø The self reliance and self
confidence leads to stand on their own legs for their basic needs as well as
raise their socio-economic status.
- SAFE DRINKING WATER TO NEEDY PROGRAMME:
One
Bore Well Installation and its Successful implementation . Project period on 01.
08. 2018 TO 31. 12. 2018.
The Main Scope of the
Project is to Provide Safe Drinking Water to the needy and identified one Village.
We successfully completed Bore wells. In essence Adaiyur village included in
this project have acute scarcity of water in general and particularly drinking
water. By
implementation of the project titled, “ To fulfillment of safe drinking water programme ” . A total of 2147 Direct Beneficiaries and 5,000 Indirect Beneficiaries have benefited through this project. Forty
young women and an equal number of adolescent girls have received essential
knowledge relating to issues concerning environment, water and health. Four
persons from the local community have come forward to act as community
volunteers for undertaking repair works to the hand pump. All these things have
been made possible with the help of Local donation. On behalf of the 2147 Direct Beneficiaries and 5,000 Indirect Beneficiaries and on behalf of the staffs and committee
members BOSS takes this opportunity to
place on record their sincere and heartfelt thanks to stakeholders and well
wishers for the generous help and look forward for continued relationship.
Out Comes of the Project:
- At Present the Two Village Community Men Women and Children were most happily welcomed this new innovative project and appreciated the good work in their villages.
- They are accessible to safe portable drinking water Have additional time to go for livelihood and hope for the better and healthy future.
- Helped cultivate kitchen garden and maintain cattle. Enabled more productive work, and better home management with the time and energy saved due to easy access to water Reduced workload of women and children and they have more time for relaxation and studies.
8 . INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2019
As
the United Nationals announced that 8th March 2018 is the day of
International Women’s day, BOSS has conducted this programme in Adaiyur
village. 200 women self-help group
members and other rural women about 500 women have participated in this
programme. The chief guest Mrs.
K.Vasanthi Advocate has expressed about Important of Women’s day and the
responsibilities of the rural women.. Each and every woman have responsible for
this society. They must come out to stop the Atrocity of women and struggling
their rights etc... Free legal aid, The Law and Order for women and support of
movements and its works for especially women. They learned through this women
day.

CONCLUSION:
The above program and activities were
successfully endeavored with support of the BOSS staff team. Each and every
program mentioned above stressed its importance to serve for the mankind and to
establish humanitarian consideration among the public. The rural people became
aware and provided support to conduct further long-term-projects so as to
develop and concentrate the welfare of the rural area’s weaker sections, to
establish a social change and building a egalitarian society.
